  • A surprising glimpse of the top of a peak in Milford sound. By the afternoon heavy rains had once again filled the valley leading into Milford Sound.
  • One of the swing bridges on the Greenstone-Caples tramp.
  • Just a few more unnamed water falls on the way to Milford Sound.

  • Descending into MIlford sound looking out on innumerable waterfalls.
  • It's no wonder that Milford Sound is one of the most popular tourist destinations of the South Island with its stunning peaks and draw dropping waterfalls.
  • One of the shaggiest sheep I have ever seen.. Probably escaped the musterer.
  • The highways are obviously not just for cars.
  • Thankfully the farmers put an orange sign on the road indicating a sheep drive. Otherwise we would have been careening into a wall of sheep!

  • One of the many venison farms scenically located on edge of Lake Hawea near Wanaka.

  • A lovely evening camping along the Wilkin River.
  • The grasslands along the river are a striking emerald green in contrast to the forest.
  • One of the many old musterer's huts seen while tramping in New Zealand.
  • An impressive waterfall behind the Sibera Hut on the Wilkin Youngs Tramp.
  • If the weather turned even slightly warm we found it rather impossible not to jump into whatever river we happened to be hiking next to. I think it was the clear turquoise color that really suckered us in.
